Solid Waste to Electricity Company (SELCO) International Limited is a Public Limited Company and the core business focus is energy recovery from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Management.
SELCO setup the first commercial Municipal Solid waste-processing unit in India, way back in 1999. SELCO’s pioneering efforts are being taken as a role model at many places not only in our country but also abroad. Our innovative technology inputs and in house R & D have made it possible to process heterogeneous waste through automation and produce quality Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF).
On 8th November 2003 we produced 6.78 MW Electricity from RDF and synchronized with the grid for the first time in the Country - a milestone achieved with indigenous technology and a pride moment for Indian Science & Technology thereby opening new avenues for the generation of green power from Garbage.
Our one decade of efforts have brought major breakthroughs in the segregation and processing of the heterogeneous garbage and now generation of electricity from RDF is all set to revolutionize the Municipal Solid waste (MSW) sector in the country.
SELCO offers the best possible scientific solution for the perennial garbage disposal problem. The efforts of SELCO - a pioneer in the Waste to Energy sector - and its vigorous R & D efforts for the last One-Decade are yielding positive results. The plants set up by SELCO, both MSW Processing Plant as well as the Power Plant producing power from RDF, are the first of their kind in the country and this speaks volumes about the R & D outlook of the company.
The growth of SELCO, from the first company in India to take up the challenge of making a commercially viable Waste to Energy plant, to a USD 10 million company in 2003 and now to a company expanding its horizons and targeting setting up of Renewable energy plants across the world, has been remarkable.
